1. Earnings Model

Josplay operates on a metered billing system where Creators earn based on the consumption of their Content.

1.1 Music Streams

• Creators are paid per track streamed beyond 30 seconds.
• The payout rate is calculated per qualifying stream, adjusted for the listener’s region based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). See formula below.

1.2 Audiobook Plays

• Creators are paid per minute of audiobook content listened to.
• The payout rate is calculated per minute, adjusted for the listener’s region based on PPP. See formula below.

1.3 Volume Discounts and Caps

• Users are subject to monthly caps for streaming.
• Creator payouts are proportionally adjusted to reflect capped revenues while maintaining transparency.

1.4 Carry-Forward Model

• Unused listener balances roll over to the next billing cycle.

• Rolled-over balances are available for payouts in subsequent periods.

2. Regional Royalty Calculations

Josplay determines royalty payouts based on a variety of factors to ensure fairness and alignment with regional market conditions. These calculations consider the following key elements:

• Base Price
  Josplay establishes a standard base price per play for all regions.

• Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Adjustment
  To accommodate differences in economic conditions, the base price is adjusted using the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) index of the listener's region.

• Volume Discounts
  Discounts are applied to reflect user subscription caps and ensure affordability across all Josplay services.

• Regional Usage Factor
  Variations in streaming patterns and engagement levels in different regions are accounted for to fine-tune royalties.

• Local Subscription Cost (LSC)
  Royalties are scaled relative to the standard subscription price in the region to balance user affordability and Creator earnings.

Example Breakdown

Using a Nigerian listener who played 500 tracks as an example:

• Base Price: $0.01 per play.
• PPP Index: 0.36 .
• Volume Discount: None applicable.
• Cost Per Qualifying Track: $0.0019.
• Cost 500 Tracks: $0.94 (~₦916)
• Artist Earning: $0.658 (~₦641.2).

Result:
For 500 qualifying streams, the total payout to the Creator would be ~₦641.2, with Josplay retaining the remaining portion to cover operational costs.

3. Payment Schedule

Josplay calculates Creator earnings monthly, with payments made on the following schedule:

• Reporting Period: The first day to the last day of each calendar month.
• Payment Date: Payments are made by the 15th of the following month.

All payments are issued in USD, unless otherwise agreed. Creators are responsible for any conversion fees or taxes associated with receiving payments.

4. Earnings Reports

Josplay provides Creators with detailed earnings reports, including:

• Number of qualifying streams or minutes consumed.
• Regional breakdown of consumption.
• Adjustments for volume caps and rollovers.

Reports are accessible through the Creator’s dashboard in the App.

5. Taxes and Deductions

Creators are responsible for:

• Reporting and paying any applicable taxes on their earnings.
• Providing accurate tax information to Josplay to avoid withholding penalties.

Josplay may deduct taxes as required by law before issuing payments.

6. Adjustments and Disputes

Josplay reserves the right to adjust Creator earnings for:

• Fraudulent or invalid streams.
• Errors in reporting or calculation.

6.2 Dispute Resolution

Creators may dispute earnings reports within 30 days of issuance. Disputes should be submitted to billing@josplay.com with supporting documentation.

7. Changes to the Billing Policy

Josplay may update this Billing Policy from time to time. Creators will be notified of significant changes via email or through the App. Continued participation after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
